Just in - pics from Bri's birthday bash!
In an effort to fool any terrorists, we threw a surprise, early birthday party for Brien on Forbes Island--conveniently anchored off San Francisco between Piers 39 and 41--on Aug 22. (Brien's actual birthday, as you may recall, is Sept 11.)
It was an amazingly successful party as there were no terrorists in sight. Forbes Island is incredible. It's a retired barge that's been converted into a restaurant & bar. You may remember for years Brien told tall tales about an old "garbage scow" that had been made into a motorized island with palm trees, a lighthouse and a beach? Well, this is it! It really exists...and definitely worth a visit next time you are in SF.
Please note - that is not Mike and Nicola's baby above. While we hope they soon have a healthy little one, we certainly hope s/he does not come out weighing over 20 lbs! The cutie Brien and Tom are holding is Jasmine, and she was a nice 7 lbs even when she was born in March. ¶ 9/03/2004 06:24:00 PM
