Hallo , my name is Michael Jonathan Patrick Caulfield. Born close to Liverpool in 1957, which was part of "THE SLAVE TRIANGLE" in the day's of slavery. This explains the New York Irish population. According to my father Joseph Patrick Caulfield who died in 1992, our roots lie in County Kildare, Southern Ireland, very close to Dublin, where Caulfield's are famous for their "Gift of the gab" , a gift lesser mortals can only achieve by kissing the "Blarney Stone"

I'm researching the Caulfield's on my mother's mother's side. That generation were all born in the 1870s in the St Martins area of London ... at least that's what they said in the 1881 census when my great-great grandfather said they had all been born there.
The 1871 census, when I'd have expected to find the father John Caulfield and his wife Ann (Hunt) draws a blank for London as do the births that I'd have expected to have seen for all the children. I've tried different spellings of Caulfield and still come up with zip.
I am making a big assumption here that they may all have been Irish and were passing themselves off as Londoners to the census people except I'm sure the Irish accent may have given that pretence away.
I'm currently at a loss ... anyone there have anything they can add?

Michael William Caulfield outside of Chicago USA my family is traced back to Tobias Caulfield former english tax collector in ireland.

My name is Luke Joseph Patrick Caulfield,my dad's parents were poor and came from County Mayo to Bolton in 1910s. Just wanted to help with the origin of the name. I read that Toby Calfhill from England changed his name to Caulfield, served as a Captain in Elizabeth I's army in 16 century in Ireland. He became Sir Toby Caulfield. Seem to remember he changed the name to sound more posh! I don't know if he invented the name as a derivation of Calfhill or nicked it.

Hello My name is Michael Field, although my biological father's name was Caulfield. I was born in Epping St Margarets Hospital London, England on the 8th May 1965 and was adopted by a couple called Field. I have had a great life but would love to find out about my biological family. My mother was a nurse an SRN at the age of 24 and my father was an engineer which I only heard about a couple of years ago and spookily I too am an engineer! My father apparently was American Scottish, hence my red hair! Does this ring any bells? Were you or your father or even grandfather in England at that time? If so please get in touch. Michael Field Somerset England

My name is Brian Caulfield. I bought this domain name many years ago, so I could grab it before some squatter began charging me to get mail at brian[at]caulfield.net. Now that I've got the email address I wanted, I've got this Web site too. I've always figured I'd try to make it a resource. A "blog" seems to be the right way to do that. If you'd like to contribute, send me a note.
