We finally went digital - probably the last people in North America to do so. Picked up a digital camera today. Compliments of a CompUSA gift card from my mom.

And heeerrre's Brien....

Now what's so hard about uploading pics from a digital camera????

Comments:
Good job! Thanks for the New Year's letter. Good pics on that as well.We love having visitors; just let us know if you're in the mood to come up to the mountains.

Digital cameras are only as good as the subject. You should try reversing the photographer and the subject.
Let's see if that improves the finished product.

Now, Dad, you're always complaining that no one posts anything. Then, when they do, you respond to them like that! No wonder our British friend has yet to post again! Be nice.

P.S. Brien, why do we have to login differently and every time we post a comment now? Something's changed, and I don't think I did it!?!

Nice? Nice? You're kidding me. Nice?
I don't do nice.

Huh - weird, the whole comment inputting format has changed. Brien, what's going on? As far as improving the pictures...well, I added a cute baby, dressed Brien in racing stripes and made it blurry, help at all??? BTW, could someone email me Andy and Colleen's physical home address when you have a chance? I seem to have failed to enter it in my address book. I plan to ambush them with one of our belated new years letters too!

How's the move going, Rich? And Katie, we are definitely up for the mountains. We just have to get organized enough to pack up some cold weather gear and jump in the Honda. One of these days we'll get up your way - thanks for the offer:)

Don't worry about the commenting format changing. It's just blogger doing it's thing. I like the new format better, actually. It let's me see what I'm commenting on.

But is there a way to do it without having to enter our user info each time? I never used to have to. . .

you are not the last to have a digital camera, we are still waiting for one. I decided I wanted a camcorder that does both moving and still photos and records them to a DVD which can then be played by most DVD players.

That sounded cool, but it turns out it is the newest thing and the factories can't keep up with the demand, so there is a waiting list for internet sellers to get them. I have now ordered two different brands, and after waiting for several weeks, I cancelled. They said Sony was doing better than the other manufacturers, so I ordered theirs, and now am getting the same story. I guess I will give them another week or so and if no success go with last centuries' technology.

You guys are getting too complicated! Go to Consumer Reports and get a basic, moderately priced digital camera. If you get something too new and fancy, you'll run into problems:
a) because all the bugs won't be worked out of the new fancy gadget yet and it will break on you constantly;
b) you'll never figure out how to actually use all those bells and whistles.

Cancel all your orders and get something simple in the $100 - 200 range. You can get a good digital camera in that range. You'll have to upgrade in 2-3 years anyway, at which point this elaborate Sony thing will be available and cheap.

We got a Nikon CoolPix 4100 and it's great. Easy to use, easy to carry, easy to upload pictures. I think it does movies too - short movies, but Brien and I haven't tried out that feature yet. Best of all, it's available.

I'll send you my consumer reports login info for you to check out digital cams.

Good Luck!

I liked it better when there were 3 cameras available and they didn't get obsolete for 10 years.
In the "bah, humbug" mode, what's up with HDTV? My son got one and challenged my manhood by daring me to do so. I imediately took the challenge! Two months and 5 slick talking salesmen, more choices and bullshit than you can imagine later, I've opted for plugging in my 15 year old TV at the new place, and enjoying the fact that I DON'T have a new tuner, tivo, digital cablebox, woofer, surroundsound speakers, outdoor speakers with special volume control, digital dvd player, and compatible chiropractic massager.
I only wish I had realised how sweet it was when I bought my last TV to simply plug it in, attach the cable, sit back and watch TV.What a concept!
