What Do They Put in the Caulfield Cup?
Beer, of course! But more on that later. Apparently it's only 44 days until the Caulfield Cup, a big horse race in Australia held every year at the Melbourne Racing Club. Seems to be kind of like the Kentucky Derby, except with fewer Kentuckians and more beer. The race is sponsored by Carlton, hence the beer (okay, they probably don't fill the cup with beer, but if I were in charge they would). It takes place at this race track. Very swank. If any Australians want to fill us in on this, feel free to post to the site.

Comments:
I think Uncle Rich is the man behind the Carlton Draught ad campaign. Their slogan "Handcrafted with big machines."

Is that a lawyer joke?

Hi Brian,

Just stumbled across your site while researching my family history. My name is Tom Caulfield and I live in Melbourne, Australia. Home of the famous Caulfield Cup. I'm actually a member at the racing club there and it a great racing track. It is one of the four biggest races in Australia each year. I've been to the USA a few times and I can tell you horse racing is much more widely popular in Oz with the general public. So when they hear your name over here the first thing people think of is the race, and the suburb named Caulfield around the track!

Cheers,

Tom Caulfield.

My name is Brian Caulfield. I bought this domain name many years ago, so I could grab it before some squatter began charging me to get mail at brian[at]caulfield.net. Now that I've got the email address I wanted, I've got this Web site too. I've always figured I'd try to make it a resource. A "blog" seems to be the right way to do that. If you'd like to contribute, send me a note.
