OK everyone (well some of you, anyway), it is time to get out the magnifying glass and see where you came from. Attached is a genealogy chart that I did about 8 years ago. I apologize that some of the entries for the current generation are out of date, but the program is no longer operable on this computer so I cannot change it. But I wanted to pass it on to whoever was interested. If you click on the picture it should blow up to readable size. If it still isn't readable, and you are interested in having an electronic copy (JPEG), I will forward it and you can blow it up as large as you want.

That's really cool. Is there some kind of program that we could redo and update it, since there have been a lot of changes? Something that we could continue to update? Maybe even something linked to this site? Maybe someone with even a little computer knowledge (ie not me!) could help with that? I never knew that Hyland was a last name in our family originally. That's neat.

Yeah, according to family lore three of us four siblings got family last names as middle names. Why Tom got James as a middle name I don't really know (maybe Tom can comment). But Hyland, Parnell and O'Brien (Rich, John and Tim, respectively) are all allegedly family last names. You can see Hyland and O'Brien, but I don't see Parnell. Maybe it is back further in time.

I believe James was Mother's (never Mom or Mama or Ma) Father's name.

Parnell was a hero of the Irish revolution in the 19th century. Don't know if he was related or if there was a different Parnell related to our family. Also don't know if it was a first or last name.

But, as happened to all Irish heros of the time, Parnell the hero..........lost.

No wonder the family left.?

Tom

Great stuff Tim. Thanks!
It would be interesting to collect more info on this stuff. Where are these folks from? What do we know about 'Mother's' family?
Here's the background on Parnell

Sorry, the Caulfield clan was as far as I got. I never got around to trying to find out anything about my mother's side of the family (i.e., the Joyner side of the family). I don't even remember why I got into the Caulfield side, except that the information was available and I had software and my disposal. As far as I know Madeleine Mary Joyner was born in Tonapah Nevada in 1914. She had a sister named Katie, presumably Katherine. I believe that she had other siblings, but I can't be sure. I believe that her parents moved to Tonapah from the area of Falmouth, England. That is all memory and hearsay.

Well this is really great stuff. Any idea where "Black Jack" is from? I've only heard the name once or twice and know nothing about him.

Here's some information on Falmouth.

ummm...the Caulfield family isn't terrible original with names. Anyone else notice there is a Michael O'Brien Caulfield somewhere else in Mike and Brien's generation! :) I did notice a Sunshine, though. :) Tim you created this from research? Can we update it? Looks like this stops in 1999.

Hey Nicola, read the original posting! Some was research, some I got from the family reunion that the other Brothers went to (good ol' Mormons). I am pretty sure it is mostly correct.

Brian, no idea where Black Jack came from. Very intreguing though.

Your Mom also had a brother. I have a picture of him I think with KT. I have another one of him fishing. Dave sent the pictures to us after Sue died. Judy

Thanks Judy. I try and try but I can't ever remember my mother talking about her brother. But that doesn't mean a lot since I have a Caulfield/Joyner memory. Anyone remember his name?

I did read it! I was asking in an impressed, incredulous tone.

My name is Brian Caulfield. I bought this domain name many years ago, so I could grab it before some squatter began charging me to get mail at brian[at]caulfield.net. Now that I've got the email address I wanted, I've got this Web site too. I've always figured I'd try to make it a resource. A "blog" seems to be the right way to do that.
