Well, I was finally able to post it today. This is a picture from our balcony on Sunday, October 29th. I thought it would be a good counter point to the sunny long distance views I have posted earlier. Since then, however, we have had two sunny days and the temperatures are predicted to be in the 60s today.
I imagine that Tom and Annie are experiencing similar weather in Bathesda.
So winter is here ... sort of ... maybe, but don't worry it is coming ... maybe.
Shot from 12th floor of Hatfield Clinical Research Center at the NIH NCI. Great rooftop, I know. And the trees and clouds in the distance aren't too bad either.

Madeline enjoyed a wonderful weekend reading with her G-g-ma. She also got to go to her first pumpkin patch, appropriately clad in her pumpkin outfit from Auntie Amy. She had fun petting (and trying to eat) the donkey and picking out pumpkins. Poor thing had a really bad cold though.
Update from beautiful Rockville, MD - location of such exotic delights at the Giant Supermarket, Sleep Inn and Crab Shack.
We arrived Saturday evening after a long jaunt across the country (cruising at about 30,000 feet in the air) and around Dulles Intl to the car rental lot (here's obligatory shot of modernist wonder, Dulles Intl main terminal).
Tom and Annie are doing well. We visited the National Zoo for some panda action on Sunday. They are very cute (Tian Tian, Mei Xiang and baby Tai Shan) and performed a number of tricks for us like munching bamboo and rolling in the grass. We thought it was great.
We took a twilight tour of the Capitol mall in our fine Hertz automobile, with built-in navi, and concluded with a nice dinner at Bonaparte Cafe in Georgetown...good pick Tom! We highly recommend it to any future Georgetown visitors.
We met Tom's east coast medical squad on Monday morning and are quite impressed. He's in great hands back here, and the NIH NCI facilities are very nice. If you're going to be in and around a hospital, this is the place to be.
John and Rosalie just spent three days with us (Tim and Linda) in Vermont. We had a great time seeing the remaining color (yes, there is some) and going to a lot of local attracitons. The picture above of John and Rosalie alone is at Texas Falls, where we also took Tom and Annie last year. Too many other places to mention.
One thing I will say is don't take Rosalie on at the game "Farkel". With the kind of luck she has you won't have a chance.
Had a wonderful visit and look forward to March at Sea Ranch.
Here is our first posting! The Blue Angels were in town last weekend. More pics to come from our new camera. Special thanks to Uncle Tim for the push we needed to get a new camera.

Hi everyone. After shooting 54 for nine holes Fri., and 107 for my first full 18 on Sat. I shot 92 for 18 holes today. It was a welcome surprise. Guess I'm getting stronger. It's a long way from hurting all over just riding the cart on bumpy ground a few weeks ago. Now let's get Tom healthy. Grandpa Rich

Isabella came to San Carlos for a visit! (And now you can see what daddy and uncle Brien really do on the weekends - watch Mr. T's new re-al-i-T show and A-team re-runs.) I pity the fool...

I want to thank you all for all the prayers and best wishes while I was sick. I've regained 10 of the 25 pounds I lost, am working some , playing some golf(worse than ever), and working out at the gym. Thanks again, Rich

My name is Brian Caulfield. I bought this domain name many years ago, so I could grab it before some squatter began charging me to get mail at brian[at]caulfield.net. Now that I've got the email address I wanted, I've got this Web site too. I've always figured I'd try to make it a resource. A "blog" seems to be the right way to do that. If you'd like to contribute, send me a note.
